What are the differences between the types of roofing services Talbot offers?
We offer 4 main roofing services: replacements, recovers, coatings, and repairs. A replacement is when the existing roof structure is torn off and replaced with a brand new roof. These types of services are reserved for very old roofs or those that have significant damage to the underlying roof structure.
A recover is the process of adding a new top layer to the existing roof and is performed when there is significant damage to the existing top layer, but the underlying structure is not damaged.
Roof coatings are sprayable or brushable coatings that we apply to the existing roof to extend its lifespan by covering cracks and holes. Coatings are perfect for moderately damaged roofs, but also for middle-aged roofs with minor wear and tear because they significantly extend a roof’s lifespan.
Roof repairs are reserved for minor cracks and the process involves applying a sealing agent to the damaged area. Repairs are best utilized as part of an annual preventive maintenance program to ensure small cracks don’t turn into larger problems.
Does Talbot offer warranties for roofing services?
We do! Because Talbot is an approved applicator of several of the most well-respected roofing material brands in the world, we are able to offer no-dollar-limit manufacturer’s warranties on our roofing applications.
For commercial roof replacements and recovers we offer a 25 year warranty, for commercial roof coatings we offer a 20 year warranty, and for commercial roof repairs we offer multi-year repair-area warranties.
On the residential side, our roof replacements come with 10 year warranties and our repairs offer the same multi-year repair-area warranty as our commercial repairs. Roof recovers and coatings are typically not performed on residential homeowner properties.
How do I know if I need to get my roof serviced?
Aside from the obvious problems that lead to roofing service calls such as leaks or visible tear-offs, it can be difficult to know if it’s time for a roofing service without a professional inspection. Talbot offers free inspections to analyze the health of your roof.
We know that often times, customers are hesitant to ask for free inspections because they feel that is just a roofing company’s way of getting in the door to tell them they need a costly replacement. That’s where Talbot has set itself apart from much of our competition. Unlike some contractors who only recommend replacements, even when they aren’t necessary, Talbot would prefer to do a roof coating or recover when applicable.
Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. We’ve made a name for ourselves by being South Florida’s most honest roofing company and we don’t intend to stop now. When you work with us, we promise not to oversell you, and we promise to always do what is right for you.
How long does a professional painting job take?
The duration depends on the project's scope. A single room might take 1-2 days, while a whole house interior could take 3-7 days. Exterior painting typically takes 2-5 days, depending on the home's size, complexity, and weather conditions. Preparation work, multiple coats, and drying time are all factored into the total project timeline.
Large scale commercial paint job durations vary greatly depending on a variety of factors, such as the scope of the project, weather conditions, and considerations for business operations that may require painting to only be performed during certain hours or on certain days. We work with you to decide on an acceptable timeframe based around your business objectives and needs.
What should I do to prepare before by professional paint service?
Talbot’s goal is to make the stress on you as minimal as possible. We will handle the majority of the preparation process for you, but there are some things you should do ahead of time:
- Remove as much furniture as possible from the area to be painted
- Remove coverings or fixtures over wall outlets
- For businesses, ensure the area is securely roped off from customer traffic
- Notify us ahead of time of any damages to the walls that will need to be repaired during the paint job
What should I look for in a professional painter?
Because we have over 50 years experience painting for our South Florida customers, we’ve learned a thing or two about what our customers look for when they hire us.
- Positive customer reviews
- Portfolio of past work
- Detailed written estimates
- Clear communication
- Use of high-quality materials
How long will a professional paint job last?
An exterior paint job will typically last 5-7 years and an interior paint job can last up to 10 years. However, there are a number of factors that can determine how long a paint job will hold up before needing to be refreshed. We use high quality paints and employ expert-level painters, ensuring you’ll maximize your paint’s lifespan. However, certain factors beyond our control can limit a paint job’s lifepsan, such as humidity, temperature, exposure to direct sunlight, and the level of maintenance you apply to your painted surfaces. To get the maximum lifepsan out of your paint, considerworking with us on a paint maintenance plan. Learn more at the links below:
